Culture and globalisation: a Latin American challenge
Abstract
Based on our research, observations and experience mainly in the Latin American region, this article will address four questions. First, what is the importance of globalisation as a pressure for change for different countries and regions? Second, why is organisational culture an increasingly strategic issue with a direct impact on the success or failure of global enterprises, alliances, privatisations, mergers and acquisitions? Third, is there a way to analyse cultural differences to reach cultural integration as a competitive advantage? Finally, what are the roles and competencies HRM professionals should concentrate on in order to manage cultural change and integration in their organisations?
