Management NVQs in higher education: reflections on experience
Abstract
Reviews the experience gained from delivering National Vocational Qualifications in Management in higher education. Identifies factors affecting achievement of management NVQs and notes these cluster around three elements; the candidate, the institution and the employer. Discusses the implications for each of these with particular reference to the institution’s management of vocational qualifications. Central to the student experience is the development of an institutional vision that positions NVQs within other management development programmes and which articulates the portfolio process. Suggests that the findings should interest institutions involved with the delivery and assessment of high level vocational qualifications.
