Abstract

Takes a critical look at the empowerment of the members of the 61st Communications Squadron at Los Angeles Air Force Base in preparation for its Quality Airforce Assessment. Compares the military need against the normal business ideas, looking at the principles of customer satisfaction, employee empowerment and powerful management and statistical tools. Covers in some detail the processes used to assess and improve the unit and the difficulties overcome. Concludes that the experience helped the writer understand and appreciate the concepts of human resources/behaviour within the military.
