Abstract

Describes the decision structures, models and architecture of CONTROLLING‐INFORMATION‐SYSTEMS (CIS). A concrete decision‐ grid has been developed and embedded in EXCEL software. A case study demonstrates the use of the Deutsche Bibliotheksstatistik (German Library Statistics) within the framework of CIS. The suitability of these national statistics within the framework of CONTROLLING‐INFORMATION‐SYSTEMS for complexity‐reduction and co‐ordination needs to be evaluated with care. Linked to this is the clear identification of trends and the analysis of specific categories of management information.
