Abstract

There are few aspects of modern life which remain unaffected by the governances of the European Community (EC), and people need to be informed. Before CD‐ROM technology, access to EC information had been comparatively difficult for information workers outside specialist EC centres. Information specialists of the 1990s, in contrast, have a choice of several CD‐ROM products in this field. To help facilitate the selection process, presents an overview and appraisal of a range of these CD‐ROMs, featuring EC Infodisk and the Justis series of databases. Each product contains some information which overlaps with that of another, yet each has its unique attributes. It is important to be aware of the alternatives available, and to evaluate them against EC information sources in other formats when making a selection on a restricted budget.
