Abstract

Outlines the key findings of applying the UMIST Total Quality Management Sustaining Audit Tool at Aeroquip Iberica. Presents findings using the five‐part category classification of internal/external environment, management style, policies, organization structure and the process of change. Concludes that there are only a small number of issues which have a negative impact on sustaining TQM. The management team at Iberica clearly understood what is involved in a process of improvement and is taking considerable strides not only to ensure that the fundamental elements of TQM are in place but to pick up the pace of improvement. Much of the positive environment in the plant is due to the management style of the director‐general.
