Ron Masson (Ron Masson is a Professor of Engineering Management at Napier University in Edinburgh. He has worked widely with Scottish industry in the development and application of quality management techniques and the implementation of new technology. His research interests include, besides new technology management and quality management, outsourcing and the formation of industrial partnerships. Robert Raeside is an Applied Statistician with a strong interest in the statistical aspects of quality and in addition to conducting research into these aspects he has acted as a consultant for several large Scottish enterprises. Abstract

Gives an extensive historical overview of the industrial history of Scotland. Goes on to look at quality in Scotland today. Reports on a survey of 200 enterprises in Central Scotland with regard to the benefits of various quality practices. Concludes that quality is now instilled in the operations of Scottish companies and suggests that this will develop in the future.
