Abstract

Purpose

This paper's aim is to illustrate the importance of multigenerational activities within the social housing sector, and provide some examples of best practice.

Design/methodology/approach

From the perspective of a social landlord (Peaks & Plains Housing Trust) the paper explains the importance of intergenerational practice and the role that social landlords can play in helping to build bridges between, and within, communities.

Findings

The paper discusses some specific activities, including street soccer, a youth forum and a winter warmer event, that have engaged young people and multiple generations and provides some feedback to these.

Originality/value

The paper gives some examples for best practice that can be used by other housing providers and community activists.
