Abstract

Purpose

The purpose of this paper is to provide insights into Stanley Hollander's early academic career at Michigan State University (MSU) and his role in founding the Conference on Historical Analysis and Research in Marketing (CHARM).

Design/methodology/approach

The paper includes personal reflections and historical narrative.

Findings

Hollander was a unique and valued member of the faculty at MSU and was instrumental in directing and shaping the CHARM and related activities.

Originality/value

This brief note complements other biographical material about Hollander by providing unique insights into his early academic career.
