Price, Competition and EC Law
Abstract
A knowledge of the rules of EC Competition is vital to those managers involved in businesses operating in the European Community. The regulations are far more encompassing than most managers suppose. Familiarity with the effects of Articles 85 and 86 will become increasingly relevant to the formulation of marketing and pricing strategies. This is particularly significant given that the Commission can impose fines of up to ten per cent of sales revenue or 1 million ECU for infringements. This article, based on the detailed research undertaken within one company, emphasises the ascending importance and pervasiveness of EC competition policy on those companies operating within the EC.
