Abstract

Recommends the use of a quality toolkit to maintain the momentum in order to develop quality management beyond BS‐EN‐ISO 9000. Discusses total quality culture. Asserts that if BS‐EN‐ISO 9000 is considered as a milestone to maintained quality management, then the approach to TQC will be different. Contends the need to use a variety of tools. Asserts that the three main elements of the quality toolkit are strategy, structure and style. Suggests that customer communication and a learning organisation are the most important. Contends it is necessary to advance on all three fronts ‐ there is no single quality tool or method that will bring results on its own. Concludes, if there is a willingness within the organisation to be a teamworker, then the three “S”s of quality will work and TQC will be a major contributor to effective work practice.
