Abstract
Purpose
Explains that the National Deaf Children's Society introduced e-learning when a lack of resources made it difficult to support all staff using a traditional training approach.
Design/methodology/approach
Considers how executive-board members, many of whom had little or no experience of online learning, were won over to the cause.

Details how two pilot programs were organized and how their results helped to convince board members to introduce online learning throughout the organization.
