Council cuts training costs by 80 percent
Article Type: Notes and news From: Industrial and Commercial Training, Volume 45, Issue 7
Northumberland County Council in the UK has revolutionized its approach to learning and development and reduced the cost of its training delivery by 80 percent in one year.
By implementing a tailored solution from Learning Pool, training costs have dropped from an average £20 per employee per hour, to £4. This means that the council can provide more training to staff. The savings have been achieved through a combination of using:
online training, with more than 10,000 hours of classroom delivery saved;
self-service for course bookings, with more than 1,200 hours of administration time saved; and
bespoke content creation, with more than 20 hours of content developed.
The future development of 360-degree feedback will also provide employees with the ability to receive objective feedback on how their managers, peers and customers feel that they demonstrate the competencies set by the organization.
