Abstract

Knitted garments are an important component of fashion and apparel industries. Advanced technologies, such as fully-fashioned and seamless knitting, provide new opportunities for knitted garment design to improve fit and enhance aesthetics. However, these innovative techniques are not well developed. This paper focuses on three-dimensional shaping techniques accomplished on weft v-bed knitting machines. The purposes of the paper are to review methods of creating 3-D shapes in knitted garments and to examine principles and limitations of each method.
