The new UKIVA Web site
Keywords Internet, Machine vision
When the UK Industrial Vision Association opened its first World Wide Web site in September 1996, it was the first national vision association to do so beating its US counterpart by six months. Now the UKIVA has a completely new site, still found at http://www. ukiva.org, where each of its 34 member companies has a full-page profile and a description of the products and services offered, with a search engine allowing the visitor to the site to send requests automatically by e-mail to every member offering the kind of system or component selected using the search facility. (Since early 1997 the association has only accepted members with e-mail facilities a sign of the times.)
The site also has details of all the publications available to enquirers, including the free (hard copy) directory of members, and the Machine Vision Handbook (a simple introduction to the technology and applications of vision) which is free to bona fide enquirers from UK manufacturing industry, £5 to others.
