This patent relates to a process for the manufacturing of moulds suitable for precision casting, die casting, injection moulding and other similar shell casting processes.
The process comprises the steps of: providing a die holder cavity which is suitable for receiving a main pattern from which a mould is to be produced; placing the main pattern, provided with spacers, in the die holder cavity; casting a low-melting alloy such as tin-bismuth (Sn-Bi) into the cavity and allowing the casting to harden; and finally removing a mould to be used for obtaining investment patterns.
