Mobile platform boosts production efficiency

Keywords: Transportation, Lifting equipment

The C3 mobile production platform is a tool which makes it easier to move large and heavy objects. With the platform's patented technology, units weighing up to 3tonnes can be moved efficiently and positioned with millimetre accuracy. Swedish technology company MaxMove Industrier AB, which developed the product, claims the C3 is suitable for most environments where large objects need to be moved, especially where space is limited (Plates 5 and 6).

Lifting operations involving several people are common in many sectors of industry: aircraft, railways, shipbuilding and automobile are examples, as is general engineering. These operations are often both time-consuming and costly. The C3 production platform was developed to make the assembly and dismantling of heavy object such as machines, engines, motors, etc. easier and more efficient.

“The basic version of the platform is equipped with a hydraulic lifting table, but in principle any equipment can be fitted to it to suit the requirements of an individual customer,” says Göran Eckeström, CEO of MaxMove Industrier.

The particular feature of the platform is that it can be moved forwards, backwards, sideways and diagonally, and can rotate 3608. This freedom of mobility comes from the company's patented drive system, which comprises tilted wheels. Units can, for example, be moved between stations on a production line without following a predetermined movement pattern, e.g. via rails or similar. The platform can be moved by one person controlling it from a control panel.
