Linear guide system

Linear guide system

Igus, known for its state-of-the-art energy chain products and maintenance-free polymer bearings have developed a new product range the DryLin-T linear guide system.

DryLin-T are recommended by igus for use in environments typically regarded as aggressive, especially in the paper converting, textile, packaging and woodworking industries. Conditions in which water, alklaline solutions and acids are present are also no problem for DryLin-T.

Benefits and advantages claimed of DryLin-T engineering features include adjustable clearance, extreme weight saving while maintaining high rigidity and high static load capacity. No lubrication is necessary as DryLin-T runs dry. There is noise reduction over conventional types of slide. They can be used in the presence of water, dirt, dust and chemicals. In dry operations DryLin-T have the lowest coefficients of friction.

The DryLin-T linear guide system

The DryLin-T linear guide system consists of two components, a guide rail made of hard anodised aluminium and a sliding carriage. The guide rail is available from igus in lengths of up to six metres, the carriage is pre-mounted and precisely adjusted to suit the guide.

The individually adjustable sliding elements are manufactured from polymer compound iglidur J which has been developed for low coefficients of friction during dry operation. The stick slip characteristic is negligible. This is of utmost importance at low loads and low speeds. This low coefficient of friction also means that iglidur J can be used at gliding speeds of 1.5m/s. Anodised aluminium is the ideal partner for iglidur J. The combination of polymer and aluminium means that DryLin-T is very lightweight, while maintaining the required rigidity for a linear system.

The DryLin-T linear system is adjustable to any desired tolerance. However, it is not recommended that tolerances are too tight when high sliding speeds are required.

The DryLin-T Slide System is produced to the same dimensional standard as other linear systems and is therefore directly interchangeable with conventional types. Like all other iglidur plain bearings and DryLin linear bearings, no lubrication is necessary. The bearings are completely maintenance free.
