Stainless steel duplex filter unit

Stainless steel duplex filter unit

BiS Valves reports that it has launched an advanced new stainless steel duplex filter unit, suitable for use with many mildly corrosive fluids, that can be used in many high pressure applications across a wide range of engineering applications.

Designed to operate on flows of up to 50 litres/min. and at working pressures of up to 420 BAR although units rated at up to 700 BAR can be made to special order its AISI 316 all stainless steel non-welded construction incorporates a change-over valve, filter clogging indicator, bleed valves and twin inlet and outlet ports for easy installation.

Standard seal material is Viton, although a choice of other materials is available, and the new unit is suitable for use with most hydraulic system mediums and many chemicals used in the oil production industry.

The standard unit is fitted with one filter element per chamber, although a double length filter chamber is available incorporating two elements, offering a higher flow capacity and longer servicing intervals. Filtration from 3 to 50 microns is provided and the visual indicator gives early warning of any element clogging.

Replacement of a contaminated filter is said to be a simple operation and should the unit ever require a general overhaul it is simply depressurised and the double ball valve, together with the filter assemblies, removed from the mounting block. This eliminates the need to disconnect any pipe work or fittings, thus removing the risk of damaging port threads or causing connection leaks on previously tested pipe work.

Another design feature of the new unit allows the double ball valve to be replaced by one of its two filter body assemblies. The filter body is then fitted directly onto the mounting block creating a simple filter, allowing the system to be restarted and filtered while the ball valve assembly is overhauled in the workshop.
