GeneSys-I gas phase process control in zoned areas

Keywords ESS, Gas phase, Process control

European Spectrometry Systems (ESS) has launched GeneSys-I a process monitoring system designed specifically for industrial gas phase process control.

Featuring fully automated instrument operation with process control interfacing, GeneSys-I is suitable for use in Zone I and 2 Controlled areas. Application fields include monitoring and the process control of corrosive or explosive gas species.

The system is housed within a nitrogen-purged cabinet and incorporates all the required pumps. Although compact in design, the system claims a specification level normally associated with larger, more expensive systems. The control software is fully automated with customised error messages and connection to the central plant control system is faciliated via the process control interface.

A key feature of GeneSys-I is its built-in modular sampling system, which provides eight sampling points as standard. When used in conjunction with ESS's separate "Navigator" unit, this system allows the number of sampling points to be easily increased in increments of eight, up to a maximum of 64 sampling units.

Incorporating advanced software, GeneSys-I is believed to offer a highly flexible user interface, with the provision for the automatic sequences to be easily edited to the user's own preferences.

Another "big system" feature of GeneSys is said to be its ability to provide quantitative analysis, obviating the need for post-run data manipulation.

Because data acquired from calibration routines are displayed in concentration levels rather than in pressure units they are that much easier to analyse. The display can showcalibrated data as a bar graph, table or trend against time for up to 64 different components. Sequence fields can also be set up to provide full automation of inlets, vacuum system control, and pre-programming of software routines customised to a particular process.

All GeneSys-I users are said to benefit from a high degree of after-sales support, including free installation, 12 months on-site warranty (inclusive of data system) plus half day user orientation course. ESS also offer 24 hour a day service contracts.
