New global standard for coating

Keywords IPC, Coatings

A new global standard for International Protective Coatings' Interthane 990 series has been announced by the company.

Interthane 990 is considered by IPC to be its flagship topcoat product. An acrylic polyurethane, it can reportedly be used on new steel and in maintenance programmes for existing sites to provide a highly durable high-gloss finish. Offshore structures, chemical and petrochemical plants, bridges, pulp and paper mills and the power industry are all thought to be suitable environments for Interthane 990, used as part of a two- or three-coat anti-corrosive coating system.

IPC's Chromascan proprietary tinting system, also now available in all regions, is thought to ensure that Interthane 990 can be supplied to match virtually any colour that engineers may specify.

Application can be by airless spray, concentrated spray, roller or brush.

The adoption of the guaranteed global standard for Interthane 990 is seen as an important step by IPC, which has been putting the finishing touches to the standardisation and globalisation of its product range over the last few months.

"Increasingly, the major projects we are involved with are controlled and run by companies operating from several different countries and even different continents", commented market director, Ian Walker. "We have to be sure that whichever of our many bases around the world is selected to supply our coatings, the product will be to the same standard. Interthane 990 is our best-selling topcoat; this move will enhance its appeal."
