Wedge Group Galvanizing is consolidating connections with suppliers to the transport industry – by being accepted as a member of the Railway Industry Association.

Wedge plants regularly hot dip galvanize a wide variety of steelwork, ranging from small wiring support brackets to large pieces for signal and electrification gantries, which are installed on both heavy and light railway systems in the UK and overseas.

There is a special specification for hot dip galvanizing for the railway industry demanding a minimum protective coating of 128 microns, and tough enough to withstand a harsh working environment for at least 30 years.

Trevor Beech, of Wedge, said: "These are dynamic times for the railway industry with, for example, the West Coast Upgrade in the UK and many other schemes abroad. Many of our customers are members of the association. We want to ensure that we are in close touch with developments and believe that our membership will be of mutual benefit both to them and to ourselves".
