NACE informs us that it is offering its Basic Corrosion Course in a self-study CD-ROM format. The CD-ROM version of the course was developed in cooperation with Katholieke University in Leuven, Belgium.
The NACE Basic Corrosion Course on CD-ROM contains all of the technical information presented in the classroom course, allowing those who are unable to attend in-person the opportunity to receive comprehensive NACE training on corrosion basics. This self-study course was designed for professionals who need to understand the language of corrosion control and be able to recognise corrosion and its related problems: engineers, technicians, managers, supervisors, field personnel, salespersons, and inspectors.
Within an eight-chapter framework, the fully searchable CD-ROM presents information on electrochemistry; environments; engineering materials; forms of corrosion: recognition and mechanisms; methods of corrosion control; and corrosion monitoring techniques. The interactive program also features video footage of corrosion and cathodic protection experiments.
Those who complete the CD-ROM material and pass the proctored final exam may opt to apply for NACE corrosion technician certification if they meet work experience requirements.
