Price move and further investment

Keyword DuPont

DuPont has recently increased the prices of its fluoropolymers and additives, ranging from 5 to 10 per cent for Teflon® FEP, PFA and Tefzel®, and 10 to 12 per cent for Teflon PTFE, depending on product grade. These moves are coupled with news of a further US$10 million investment in the company's fluoropolymers production site at Dordrecht, The Netherlands, during 2001.

"Recent increases in the cost of raw materials and energy have necessitated price adjustments to our Teflon and Tefzel product lines", says Klaus Kimpel, director, DuPont Fluoropolymers – Europe, middle East and Africa. "However, we are supporting growth in global demand for PTFE and fluoropolymers by investing over US$55 million in our European facilities during the period 1998-2001, in upgrades designed to meet increasingly stringent environmental legislation and improve site infrastructure. These measures will help sustain the fluoropolymers business, and support customer's long-term needs", he adds.
