A Winn and Coales’ Denso Tape system is being used at the Ellesmere Port works of Vauxhall Motors to give protection to new pipework forming part of the existing fire main. The main contractors are McTay Engineering, who have installed a new water tank and some 40 m of new pipework which will be temporarily connected to the existing fire main pipework. It is planned to replace this in the future with two new 14 in. and two 10 in. water mains feeding back to the pump house.

Sub-contractors Deborah Services are applying the Denso Tape system to a civil engineering specification for the water industry, P2 specification, on all buried sections of the pipework and to the joints and any valves on above ground sections. The system consists of Denso Paste, followed by Denso Hi-tack tape, the overwrapped with Denso PVC Tape.
