Ideas to help small surface engineering companies save money by reducing waste

Keywords: Waste, Surface engineering, Costs

Companies that take action to reduce waste will save money while improving their environmental performance. Finishing with a Profit, a new A5 booklet from Envirowise contains a wealth of simple and practical ideas to help small metal finishing and surface engineering companies comply with environmental legislation as cost-effectively as possible.

Finishing with a Profit, which is endorsed by the Surface Engineering Association and other sector trade associations, highlights areas where companies can take action to improve their environmental performance at little or no cost. Ideas to reduce the waste of chemicals, water and energy are presented together with ideas on how to reduce waste in vapour degreasing, paint and powder processing, thermal spraying, galvanizing and heat treatment. The booklet suggests sources of more detailed information from Envirowise and other organisations on how to reduce waste in these areas.

Envirowise – Practical Environment Advice for Business – is a Government programme that offers free, independent and practical advice to UK businesses to reduce waste at source and increase profits. It is managed by AEA Technology Environment and NPL Management Limited.
