Baosteel starts producing high-intensity steel sheets for container manufacturing

The Shanghai-based Baosteel Group has produced its first 1,000ton batch of 700-plus MPA high-intensity steel sheets for the manufacturing of containers, the company announced to Interfax.
Currently, only a limited number of steel companies in the world are capable of producing high-intensity steel sheets for container manufacturing. Baosteel started research and development on the steel sheets in 2000 and developed its first piece of steel sheet for container use in 2001.
In July 2002, the company signed a contract with the China International Marine Container Co., Ltd, a company based in South China's Guangdong Province, on the supply of 3,000 tons of steel sheets for container manufacturing.
