US Navy to host industry technology exchange on corrosion

The Naval Sea Systems Command and the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Port Hueneme Detachment Louisville, will host the 2003 US Navy and industry corrosion technology exchange (CTE). The CTE will be held at the Hurstborne Hotel and Conference Center in Louisville, Kentucky, 14-17 July 2003.

This year's sponsors are the Naval Sea Systems Command Program Executive Office, Surface Strike, PMS529, and Program Executive Office, Integrated Warfare Systems, PMS 473. Additional support comes from the American society of naval engineers (ASNE), Midwest Section, Kentuckiana Chapter, National surface treatment center (NSTC), McConnell technology training center (MTTC), NACE International – The Corrosion Society, SSPC: The society for protective coatings, and integrated consulting services (ICS).

The goals of this year's technology exchange are, to present the military needs in the areas of corrosion control, develop and maintain an infrastructure that will facilitate the transfer of current technologies between the military and industry, focus on partnership opportunities among the military, industry, and joint services, and provide a forum to effectively exchange information about military and industrial activities.

Topics are expected to include at least the following: new technologies, corrosion control methods, successful application of new products, research and development, preservation of materials, environmentally compliant processes, lessons learned, and life cycle issues.
