CCC&L, George Campbell Painting receive awards

Corrosion Control Consultants & Labs (CCC&L) and George Campbell Painting Corporation were presented award plaques by the Maryland Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). The companies received the awards for their work performed on the William Preston Lane Jr Memorial Bridge. The project was honored as the Outstanding Civil Engineering Achievement-Project Cost over $15 million.

The Maryland Transportation Authority contracted CCC&L to perform a detailed study of the bridge's existing paint system, which revealed that a complete removal of the original lead paint was necessary. Because the original coating system contained lead-based paint, blast cleaning of the existing paint was required. Paint removal and coating operations were performed by George Campbell Painting Corporation.

The four-mile-long bridge is one of two parallel spans and carries vehicular traffic on eastbound US Route 50 over the Chesapeake Bay.
