The Akzo Nobel paper “Fast UV – A Curable Clearcoat” received the Paul Dufour Award for best paper of the RadTech Europe 2005 Conference & Exhibition. Paul Dufour was a founding member of RadTech Europe.

Nazire Dogan, Research & Development, Akzo Nobel, Sassenheim, the Netherlands, received the award for her paper from Dr Stephan Peeters, chairman of the Conference Program Committee, who awarded the prize on behalf of the RadTech Europe Association and Vincentz Network during the Opening & Plenary Session of the RadTech Europe 2005 Conference & Exhibition.

Akzo Nobel Car Refinishes is currently preparing to introduce Sikkens Autoclear UV. Using safe and low-energy UV-A light, the low-VOC clearcoat will cure in 6 min, with an 8 h pot life.

Because of this new, patented technology, shadow areas will cure, and there is no oxygen inhibition or tacky surface layer.
