Reflective stir-in pigment

The Shepherd Color Company has introduced a “stir-in” inorganic color pigment to the coatings market, Dynamix™ Black 30C940. The pigment is part of the company's Arctic® range for coatings and can be used widely in color matches to maximize TSR, minimize heat build up, and reduce overall energy costs, the company says. (Shepherd's Arctic pigments are used in EnergyStare compliant roof coatings, automotive exteriors and interiors, protective coatings, camouflage paints, and other applications.)

According to the Cincinnati, Ohio- based company, the “stir-in” pigment technology only requires simple mixing. The time necessary to reach complete dispersion will depend upon the intensity of the mixing equipment, Shepherd reports, but can be achieved in as little as 5min. Dynamix is compatible with solvent- and water- borne coatings systems as well as 100 percent solids systems and UV-cured coatings. The pigment offers coatings that resist weather, heat, and chemicals.
