Low-VOC surfactant improves wetting, cuts defects

Air Products has introduced its EnviroGem® 360 surfactant to boost low-energy substrate wetting, lower foam, and reduce coating defects in architectural and industrial maintenance coatings – all without contributing to VOC content, the company says.

The surfactant is also environmentally friendly, because in addition to its very low VOC, the product also does not contain alkylphenol ethoxylates (APE), which are persistent in the environment and are suspected of being endocrine disruptors. The surfactant is also inherently biodegradable, the company says.

Based in Lehigh Valley, PA, Air Products serves customers in industrial, energy, technology, and healthcare markets worldwide with a portfolio of atmospheric gases, process and specialty gases, performance materials, and equipment and services.
