Smart award for nCode International Ltd

nCode International Ltd (Tel: +44 (0) 1235 43 3612), the specialist computer-aided engineering software provider, which is now a subsidiary of AEA Technology plc, has been awarded a DTI sponsored Smart award. The Smart award scheme has for the past 11 years helped innovators with technological brainwaves launch a range of exciting new projects which have boosted the competitiveness both of their companies and of the region.

The fundamental aim of nCode's Smart project is to produce software design tools for the modelling of fatigue in engineering components which for the first time both allow for non-ambient temperatures and are in readily commercialised form.

Theoretical models for fatigue damage will be used to build software products suitable for calculations at both design analysis and test stages of product development to satisfy the needs of a range of industries. These damage models will be applicable in components being studied, such as those within the combustion chamber region of aircraft engines.
