A decade of achievement marks Ron Kennett's retirement

Keyword Royal Aeronautical Society

Ron Kennett has recently retired as director of The Royal Aeronautical Society after ten years in this office and a total of 42 years in aerospace.

During the ten years of Ron's tenure, the Society has witnessed a period of tremendous change in the aerospace industry. While the industry was cutting back on employees, the Society's membership has grown, with the majority of the leaders of the industry now Fellows of the Society.

At the same time, the Society has undergone a radical programme of transformation. Ron stimulated a recognition within the aerospace community of the Society's prestige, relevance and influence, especially in terms of enhancing the highest standards of professionalism in all aerospace disciplines.

Ron also initiated the Associated Company Scheme, which now has over 80 member companies from across the industry. Its success reflects the multidisciplinary nature that the Society has enhanced over the last ten years.

The Society has had to reflect the global nature of the industry and the signing of collaborative agreements with other professional bodies across the world, over the last ten years, has helped to strengthen the Society's international role.

Commenting on the outstanding achievements made by Ron, the Society's president Captain Jock Lowe, said that "Ron's imaginative approach to solving strategic issues facing the industry and the Society will be missed".
