In GB patent 2315047 Kvaerner Maritime AS describe a method for assembling a rocket, preparing, transporting it to the launch site and launching. The rocket consists of a number of parts and a payload which have to be transported into space. The assembly, preparation and transport are performed with the rocket's main axis extending horizontally. The assembly and the preparation and possibly the transport can be performed on board a transport means, for example a ship. The complete rocket, still with the main axis extending horizontally, may be transferred to a floating structure, for example a platform, where it is raised to a vertical position and launched.
