The Electronics Buyers' Guide 1999 is not only thought to be bigger than ever, but it is also available on Internet and CD-ROM formats. With details of around 9,900 companies and products and services listed under 1,400 classifications, the guide is a definitive directory for specifiers and purchasers of electronic products or services.

Popular sections include "Manufacturers' guide to distributors", introduced in 1998, which links UK and overseas manufacturers to UK distributors and "Brands and trade names", which lists 2,300 names, each linked to the supplier. The "Company data" section goes from strength to strength, providing essential details such as company type, turnover, quality assessment, key personnel, number of employees, addresses, phone/fax/ e-mail/URL, company registration number, VAT number and products and services description.

Purchasers of the 1999 printed or CD-ROM directory will receive full access to the Internet site, which offers the additional service of printing mailing labels. For 1999 a company with full access to the Internet site may print its first 500 mailing records free of charge. CD-ROM users can create and save their own shortlists, add comments to an electronic notepad and print out selected company details and fax or e-mail enquiries direct from their PCs.

Unregistered visitors to the Internet site will have the opportunity to carry out very simple searches for basic company information or subscribe online for the full service.

A major checking campaign undertaken this year will ensure the 1999 directory is as accurate as possible at the time of publication. As Anthony Parish, director general of the Federation of the Electronics Industry says in the introduction to the 1999 edition, "The electronics industry is a global industry, and The Electronics Buyers' Guide supports this globalisation providing access to any designer or manufacturer through a detailed reference of UK suppliers."
