Guide to circuit breakers

Keywords Circuit breakers, E-T-A, Publication

Circuit protection specialists E-T-A Circuit Breakers have produced a new 73-page guide to CBEs (circuit breakers for equipment) aimed at showing designers why the correct choice of circuit protection is an important consideration, enhancing equipment reliability, safety and performance as well as reducing the cost of ownership in applications as varied as communications, control, machinery, building management, marine electronics, hospitals, vehicles and emergency vehicles, avionics and so on.

Although pocket-sized, this guide provides a detailed introduction to CBEs ranging from thermal through hydraulic, magnetic and electronic to high performance CBEs, and describes different forms of actuation. It explains the features of each and shows how to select the most appropriate type for any application. There is even a 14 point check list of design issues to be considered and guidance on what to look for when specifying a CBE.

The guide also contains a useful glossary of CBE terminology for quick reference and details E-T-A's extensive expertise and leadership in both CBE and other products such as process switches for flow, pressure and temperature, battery isolators, solid-state power controllers, time delays and digital panel meters. A faxback form is also provided for easy access to further information.

The E-T-A handbook examines the importance of circuit protection and the unique contribution made by circuit breakers for equipment in establishing the image and reputations of manufacturers across a diverse range of industries
