Data Device Corporation (DDC) has developed a single monolithic integrated circuit which reportedly can act as an interface for the ARINC 429 aviation serial data bus standards and the ARINC 571 and 575 variants. The DD-03182VP-200 line driver circuit is said to be 50 per cent smaller than conventional designs with a package size of only 0.340 × 0.235 × 0.065 inches (8.6mm × 6.0mm × 1.7mm).

ARINC 429 is the de facto civil aerospace standard for transmitting and receiving serial digital information. Used for both flight critical and non-essential applications, it operates at up to 100kbits/second in simplex mode with up to 20 receivers.

The DD-03182VP is designed to receive ARINC 429 TTL data from a DD-03282 transceiver and transmit data on the serial bus in accordance with ARINC 429. Typical applications include flight control computers and inertial navigation systems.

The bipolar circuit's output voltage level is programmable and the output pins are also stated to be protected against short circuits from the aircraft's power. The slew rate of the device can be programmed for either HIGH (100kbits/second) or LOW (12.5kbits/second) data rates via two external timing capacitors.

The DD-03182VP-200 is contained in a 14-pin SOIC package and operates over the 40°C to +85°C temperature range. Power requirements are ±15 and +5 volts dc.
