Unigraphics Solutions Ltd has been awarded a £700,000 (US$1 million) contract by C.F. Taylor, a B/E Aerospace, Inc. company, for the provision and implementation of an integrated 3D computer-aided design (CAD) system based on the latest version of the Unigraphics software suite.

The new system, which provides fully integrated facilities for 3D design and modelling of components and assemblies, production of detailed engineering and manufacturing documentation and photo-realistic design visualisation, runs under Windows NT. In addition to the Unigraphics software, the contract calls for comprehensive systems integration and implementation services, together with training and ongoing technical support.

Unigraphics is the B/E enterprise-wide approved CAD system that allows the company total production integration, sharing of engineering drawings and centralisation of databases. In the first instance the new Unigraphics system at C.F. Taylor replaces its existing 2D drafting system. However, eventually it will also replace the company's existing non-compatible 3D CAD system.

At the company's Llanelli plant in South Wales, where the new system is being installed, C.F. Taylor specialises in the design, manufacture and fitting of commercial aircraft galleys.
