Keywords Patents, Aerospace industry, Aircraft

GB Patent 2327399 describes a cabin decompression system for an aircraft. It has a canopy and means to break or jettison the canopy (during pilot ejection) which is coupled to means to decompress the aircraft with respect to the external air pressure prior to jettisoning/breakage. The decompression means may be a valve such as a modified cabin pressurisation dump valve. The system is preferably automatically selectable to either an operational or a non-operational mode, depending on the aircraft altitude.
