Two more Street cranes have been commissioned at RN Air Station, Culdrose, UK. One is installed within an existing aircraft hangar, the other within a new design and build hangar development by contractors Kier Western.

Two double girder cranes, each lifting 2.5 tonnes, have been installed in exceptionally wide bays of 31 and 34.6 metres. Because of the wide span and consequent depth of the crane beams, hoists are located within the height of the beam to give the greatest clear area beneath. The ZX hoists selected for this application are said to be the product of an extensive development programme to ensure high performance with exceptional safety and reliability.

For flexibility, the cranes are dual speed on both long and cross travel. Control of the cranes is via suspended pendants that are mobile across the bridges of the cranes; these allow the operators to work from positions of safety.
