Heat exchangers for P&W 6000 engine to power Airbus A31 8

Keyword: Heat exchangers

Serck Aviation and Stewart Warner are supplying the heat exchangers for the P & W 6000 engine which will power the Airbus A318. There are three heat exchangers of which one is Serck's second generation high temperature air/air buffer cooler.

Originally developed for the P & W 4090 engine series, which powers the Boeing 777, the air/air buffer cooler puts Serck Aviation at the forefront of aviation high temperature heat exchanger design.

Providing positive pressure cooling to bearing chambers the unit is manufactured in inconel 718 and uses a new technique for attaching the cooling tubes to the manifold which is economical in production and repair (Plate 16).

Plate 16 Serck Aviation combined fuel cooled oil cooler and filter (with label showing) is one of three Aero Equipment Division coolers on the PW6000 engine. At the top right, with red frame is the Stewart Warner air cooled oil cooler. The other is Serck Aviation's unique inconel air/air buffer cooler mounted underneath the engine
