Hartzell Propeller reports that it has promoted Joe Nelson to account manager in its OEM sales group. Joe was formerly manager, Propeller Integration Engineering within Hartzell's Aircraft Applications Engineering group. The company informs us that Joe was selected for this position because of his extensive technical background, in-depth knowledge of propeller system optimisation to meet customer's needs and keen understanding of the aircraft market. He will be responsible for major domestic accounts, as well as emerging international markets, including Eastern Europe and Asia.

Joe holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Illinois and a Masters degree in Aeronautical Science with a management specialisation from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Prior to joining Hartzell in 1995, Nelson worked at General Electric Aircraft Engines in Evendale, Ohio specialising in aircraft mission performance and fan blade design, including the patented design of unducted propeller fan blades. He also received two other patents while with GE.
