In GB Patent 2354502 Terence Leonard Vickers describes an aircraft. It comprises a main wing, also functioning as a fuselage and supported between two side panels, which may house fuel tanks and the undercarriage. Efflux from two jet engines may enter respective diverter chambers, each having a rear outlet for generatmg forward thrust and controlled by a flap and downward directed outlets for generating lift when the rear outlet is closed by the flap. Additional jets for producing forward thrust may also be provided. A secondary wing may be provided beneath the main wing.
