Engineering director

Bournemouth International Airport based Meridian Aviation Ltd has appointed Malcolm Craft as engineering director to head its current team of engineering and avionics personnel. His new appointment follows almost 10 years as engineering director with the Qatar Aeronautical College where he oversaw the aircraft fleet maintenance and established the facility’s Engineering Training School. Prior to his contract in the Middle East, Malcolm was chief engineer for aeroplanes at Air Hanson at Blackbush airport for 4 years. He joins the senior management team of managing director Jeff Carr and sales director Bob Berry, who created Meridian Aviation that became the sole distributor of Piper Aircraft for the UK, Ireland and Spain after taking over the assets of Anglo American Airmotive Ltd in February. As a former light aircraft owner himself, he fully supports Meridian Aviation’s crusade to change the approach offered to customers requiring their aircraft to be serviced and maintained – for the better (Plate 16).

Keith, from Chichester, is to initially concentrate on the introduction of systems to increase efficiency and the introduction of training and product support initiatives as part of a developing turnkey package to benefit all aircraft owners. As well as the recruitment of a number of engineering apprentices, there are also plans for the creation of a JAR 147 training school as part of Meridian Aviation’s investment, which is expected to exceed £3 million over the next 2 years.
