Data Device Corporation has announced a new partnership with Green Hills Software, Inc., and the resulting compatibility of DDC's leading-edge BU-65566 card with Green Hills' INTEGRITY Software. By running the MIL-STD-1553 BU-65566 card on the INTEGRITY OS, it is believed that users will benefit from increased reliability, improved security, and quintessential real-time operations. MIL-STD-1553 is the data bus used with the majority of the Western world's military aircraft as well as much other aerospace and defence equipment. “INTEGRITY is an advanced, real-time operating system with a number of inherent advantages,” explains Mike Hegarty, DDC Product Marketing Manager. “We expect that our customer base, especially those designing embedded avionics systems, will be enthusiastic about this new support.” On a broader scope “this move is reflective of DDC's ongoing strategy to continually expand the OS compatibility of our boards.”
Green Hills has a history of building relationships where a technological synergy exists. “The agreement between DDC and Green Hills provides the framework for the two companies to share technology and offer integrity-based solutions to our mutual customers,” notes Robert Redfield, Director of Partner Programs at Green Hills Software.
INTEGRITY is a royalty-free, real-time operating system for use in embedded systems that require maximum reliability and security. Key features claimed include guaranteed resources built upon a memory-protected architecture, true real-time performance, and extremely high reliability. INTEGRITY was designed from the ground up for 32- and 64-bit embedded processors without the burden of compatibility with 1980s vintage products.
The BU-65566 PMC card is currently shipping with the INTEGRITY drivers. The 66 MHz card claims a comprehensive COTS solution for interfacing between embedded PCI and MIL-STD- 1553 buses. It features a robust design with thermal vias, a heat-spreading plane, copper strips providing primary and secondary thermal interfaces to baseboard rails, and includes up to four channels of DDC's industry-standard Enhanced Mini-ACE MIL-STD-1553 interface for commercial and military environments.
