Now available from Link Microtek is a new E-field probe that enables quick and accurate measurements to be made of the high-power pulsed signals emitted from military or civil radar antennas.

Manufactured by Narda Safety Test Solutions, the Type 33C probe claims an extremely wide frequency range of 300 MHz to 50 GHz, utilising thermocouple detectors for inherent true RMS measurements regardless of frequency and pulse shape.

The new probe incorporates three mutually orthogonal sensors to provide an isotropic response, which is said to mean that accurate measurements can be obtained irrespective of the position of the probe or the polarisation of the incident field.

Compatible with Narda's EMR-300 series RF radiation meters, the probe is specified with a field strength measurement range of 8 to 614 V/m. It can handle continuous field strengths up to 1500 V/m without damage and can also tolerate brief spikes of 27 kV/m.

Multiple-frequency calibration ensures that the Type 33C probe produces reliable results across its entire frequency range, and its isotropic measurement capability – combined with the auto-zeroing and probe-recognition features of the EMR series meters – makes it exceptionally easy to use.
