Frontline PCB Solutions, a joint venture of Orbotech and Valor, has purchased all assets of Prestim Ltd, with offices at Calne, Wiltshire, UK.
The acquisition is part of Frontline's strategic marketing plan to enter the field of process planning and sales quotation in the PCB industry.
Three main strengths of the Prestim assets, active for over 15 years in the European market, led to the decision:
- 1.
A cost-based process-planning engine excels in providing the ability to plan more cost-effectively.
- 2.
A knowledge-based rules engine, with rules derived from the expert knowledge at each individual company, enables the automation of all quoting and planning processes and events at the factory.
- 3.
A Web-based quotation software that seamlessly integrates with Frontline's Genesis 2000 CAM and planning systems, aimed at the factory's salesforce.
The Prestim facilities, now called Frontline UK, will serve as an R&D center, managed by Frontline's headquarters in Israel. Acquiring these field-proven technologies (with over 40 successful installations world-wide) will enable Frontline to accelerate the time to market of its engineering-based solutions developed by the company – the new process planning and sales quoting products.
