Orbotech celebrates 30 years of leadership

The year 2011 marks the 30th anniversary of Orbotech Ltd as a leading supplier to the electronics industry. In celebration of this company milestone, special commemorative events and activities with employees, customers and industry experts worldwide are planned throughout the year.

Founded in 1981 in Israel with the ground-breaking introduction of automated optical inspection for bare printed circuit board (PCB) production, the company has remained at the forefront of electronics manufacturing. Today, virtually every electronic device in the world is produced using Orbotech systems.

As a leading provider of yield-enhancing and production solutions for bare PCBs and flat panel displays (FPDs), Orbotech has introduced many first-ever technologies such as laser direct imaging and automated optical repair for PCB and array test systems for FPD. These industry-changing innovations have enabled the continuous advancement of manufacturing capabilities to keep pace with critical quality, cost and time-to-market demands.

In addition to expanding its product portfolio over the years with new technologies for its core markets, Orbotech’s growth has also included entering new markets. This includes, among others, character recognition solutions for check and forms processing, primarily for banks and other financial institutions, as well as products for the deposition of anti-reflective coating on crystalline silicon photovoltaic wafers for solar energy panels.

The timing of Orbotech’s 30-year anniversary coincides with the company’s previous announcement of record 2010 revenues of $529.4 million, another major milestone achievement in its growth and development.
