Purpose – to present a number of scenarios between a coach and coachee in which ethical or contractual issues are raised in order to encourage questions about personal ethics and boundary management. Design/methodology/approach – states that each of the scenarios are based on real situations and, in relation to each, identifies what the issues are and potential resolutions. Scenarios include a coachee revealing that he/she has awarded a big contract to a friend, a coach finding out via a third party that the married coachee is having an affair with another senior manager in the business, a coach realizing that he/she does not like the coachee although the coachee is very senior in the business and could harm the coach’s prospects in the organization, and the coachee disclosing that he/she has some potential whistle-blowing information about financial mismanagement in the firm.
